New Uniform

We have just been formulating a system for when we re-open our shop in the coming weeks. As I am sure you can appreciate, we will be changing our business practices due to the current uncertain times, as a consequence we will not be operating our retail shop as usual. Our customers and staff are our first concern and due to social distancing guidelines etc. we have taken this decision. The summer months are especially busy and it would not be possible to police distance guidelines within the shop.
Please be assured the shop will still be open, but for collection and exchanges only. We have put in place an online and telephone ordering system to accommodate parents and students in the coming months.
We will be offering a FREE “click and collect” service from the shop and a dedicated reduced cost courier service. The “click and collect” service will allow you to order online or by phone for collection at the shop, to also help parents the courier service will be run at a reduced cost.
Our NEW size guide will soon be available online to help students/parents pick the correct size uniform, the guide is size specific to every item of uniform and will help with the correct choice of sizes. However we realise this can still be problematic, so we will have details available both online and within each order if any exchanges or returns are required.
New starters will still have a 5% discount day as usual, this can be ordered online or by telephone, this date will be the 1st July 2020, any orders received that day will automatically receive a 5% return back into their account. We will not be attending open evenings this year, but we can supply school uniform samples and order forms if required.
The school uniform voucher system is another area where we can work around the current situation, parents can call (01904 624497) and place the order by phone (please note we cannot take the voucher orders online). As usual we would require a list of students from school who are entitled to this, we can then cross reference when taking the orders.
We have dedicated members of staff, who will this year be solely responsible for answering the phone lines, this will help when online is not an option.
I am sure you can appreciate the changes we have had to put in place, full details will also be appearing on our website.
If you need anymore information or need to clarify anything, please contact me.
Thank you in advance for your support and understanding in these trying times.

Group of students from Huntington School, York

The Friends of Huntington School York (FOHSY) is the name of our PTA who work to raise funds to improve the opportunities available at school for our children. We aim to advance the education of our students and to develop great relationships between staff, students, parents and the local community. All parents, staff and anyone interested in the school can be a member. We are registered as a charity no 1155628.

As part of what we do, we run a recycled uniform service for branded uniform items. We take good quality pre-loved uniform which is donated to us by parents, and organise sales to parents at low prices. Our aim is to provide good quality uniform at a reasonable cost to all pupils and also to recycle and re-use good quality uniform which would otherwise be sent for rags as it is branded and thus most recycling outlets cannot take it. Items range from £3 to 50p.

All uniform is washed and packaged up carefully and checked to ensure it is good quality and suitable for re-sale. Profits from this go to the FOHSY funds and enable us to provide refreshments at events at school and other fundraising events, which thus boosts our overall fundraising.

As all stock is donated, our stock varies all the time. To buy uniform, please contact FOHSY either by email to friendsofhuntingtonschool@gmail.com or through our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfHuntingtonSchoolYork/ by messaging us. Let us know what you are looking for, and if we have it in stock, we will organise for it to be collected by either you or your child from Reception. All uniform is stored in school and is thus only available during term time, although we should have an idea if we have the item in stock for holiday requests. Once you have tried it on and are happy with it, money should be handed in to reception in an envelope marked for “FOHSY – recycled uniform funds”.

As a guide, our usual prices will be:

Huntington School Recycled Uniform
Blue and Black Jumpers £3
Ties 50p
PE Kit – Boys – Polo shirts £2
Games shirts £3
shorts & tracksuit bottoms – with logo £2
– Girls – Polo shirts £2
Fleeces/Girls PE Tops £3
shorts/skorts & tracksuit bottoms/leggings £2

We are always very grateful for all donated uniform and hope to give a new lease of life to everything which is given to us. Please hand any donated items into reception and explain they are for recycled uniform and we will add them to our stock. Thanks so much to everyone who has already done this.
