New Entrants

Dear Parent

First of all, may I welcome you as the parent of a new pupil coming to Huntington School this September.  We do understand that the transition to secondary school can be worrying for parents and children, and so I want to assure you that we will do all we can to ensure that your son or daughter makes a positive and enjoyable start.  We have included in this pack all the information we think you need at this stage to make the transfer straightforward.  Please read it all carefully and keep it safe, since you will need to refer to it at a later date.

You will notice that we ask you to return some of the paperwork to us on the evening of Wednesday 19 June when there will be a Parents’ Evening for new pupils and their parents.  The evening will begin with a brief presentation from me followed by an introduction to my senior colleagues.  You will then have an opportunity to meet your child’s form tutor and House pastoral team.  We hope that you will be able to come within the time slot indicated below in order to help us spread the interviewing process over as long a period as possible. However, if you find this slot impossible, or indeed have any other queries concerning transition please contact Mrs Gail Naish, Deputy Headteacher  & SENCo

All new pupils are also invited to spend a day with us before the end of the Summer Term.  Details of these visits are given below. Students from Robert Wilkinson and Huntington Primary Schools will join us for the day on Wednesday 26 June and all other primary school students will join us on Wednesday 3 July.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your son or daughter into Huntington School.

Yours sincerely

Mr Tomsett
