Art and Drama Technician (Part time)

Grade 5 £24,629 - £25,779 
(£6,859 - £7,340 pro rata for 12 hours term time)

PERMANENT, PART TIME 

We are seeking a flexible and enthusiastic Technician to support the teaching and learning in both the Art and Drama Department part-time. The working hours and days for the 12 hours are flexible but must be worked during the school day, Monday to Friday.  

No experience is necessary as full training will be given, but if you have any experience of the following then it would be advantageous.  

ART 

  • Maintaining equipment, materials, facilities and services within the departments.     

  • Managing the storage of materials, equipment and artwork efficiently, assist with ordering and putting stock away after deliveries. Maintain and manage stock levels.   

  • Preparing specialist materials and equipment for use in lessons, prepping clay, cutting paper to size, prepping inks etc.    

  • Assisting with the documentation of students’ exam and portfolio work and to distribute work back to them.  

  • Providing technical assistance (prepare large printing press) to students during lessons and study sessions.    

  • Assisting making teaching and learning practical resources.    

  • Providing technical support to staff and pupils for ceramics, sculpture and to assist with loading/unloading the kiln, transporting work between the 2 floors.    

  • Assisting with Departmental displays and the preparation, mounting and installation of work around the school.   

  • Assisting mounting and display - of GCSE, A Level Art & Design for moderation.  

  • Assisting with display of subject specific language to develop vocabulary.    

  • Providing skilled assistance to academic staff in preparation of teaching aids.    

  • Liaising with cleaners and maintenance staff, where necessary.   

DRAMA 

  • Creative Support for student productions 

  • Painting stage backdrops 

  • Making theatre props 

  • Supporting students to make props and backdrops 

  • Researching, sourcing and making costumes 

  • Making lesson resources such as puppets 

  • Ordering stationary, equipment and theatre props 

  • Organising/ maintaining departmental equipment cupboards 

  • Creating and maintaining display and noticeboards to a brief.

Previous experience of working in a school environment is not essential and this is a fantastic development opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference to our young people.
