The idea behind 'Music Live' is to provide students with an opportunity to prepare performances in a variety of styles to present to a diverse audience from pupils in feeder primary schools to the 'Link Group'.
Most of the performance material will be original and there will be various roles that students can fulfil within the company such as director, producer, writer, composer or performer.
At the centre of these performances is the idea of story telling and the interpretation of stories - some well known others less well known. These may be moral tales, cultural myths; the magical, the humorous, the challenging and sometimes the thoroughly nasty. Stories from many countries and cultures, stories to absorb the listener, stories to touch the heart.
In addition to this 'Music Live' will run existing events such as 'Battle of the Bands' and fulfil the musical requirements of the 6th form and school show in the autumn term.
'Music Live' is also looking to work collaboratively with Drama, Dance and Media in creating cross curricular live performance works.
