General first aid is a comprehensive introductory course covering incident management and casualty care. No previous knowledge or experience is needed, just an interest and ability to learn new skills and apply them in order to gain a very useful qualification.
The topics covered include:
- Dressings and bandages for wounds and bleeding
- How to deal with the uncontious and head injuries
- How to treat fractures and other bone injuries
- Burns and scolds
- Lifting and carrying
You will be assessed continuously throughout the course and there will be a final practical assessment carried out by approved assessors who are not involved with the course delivery.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued with a first aid certificate, valid for three years and approved by the health and safety executive.
